TECHNICIAN SENSORY LAB - RESEARCH and DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: The person in this position: Implements and administers shelf life testing of the various Hormel products, including items from Hormel plants and co-packers. Tasks include scheduling shelf-life panels, setting up routine samples in LabVantage LIMS, and conducting the required shelf-life tests. Executes the sensory evaluation tests using complex procedures in a safe and sanitary manner. Recruits employees and/or community members for Shelf-life and Sensory Evaluation Panels. Responsible for proper and safe operation and maintenance of all relevant equipment in the Sensory Lab. QUALIFICATIONS: Required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be capable of working several hours in a 38F cooler or for short periods of time in a 0F freezer. Must be capable of standing for extended periods of time. Regularly lifts 20-30 lbs. and may, on occasion, must lift up to 50 lbs. Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Windows environment including Microsoft Office platform - Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint. Demonstrated use of strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently. Demonstrated problem solving skills. Preferred Knowledge of the metric system, scientific aptitude and/or food science experience. Basic computer skills including knowledge of spreadsheets, databases and/or other commonly used windows programs. Knowledge of LabVantage LIMS.
