University of Minnesota Physicians Specialty Intake Coordinator (Oncology) - 1.0 FTE in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota

The Specialty Intake Coordinator provides support for Oncology Departments at Masonic Cancer Clinic, the Breast Center, Institute for Prostate and Urologic Cancers, Radiation Oncology Clinic (University), Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic, Dermatology Clinic, Gynecologic Cancer Clinic, Lakes Cancer Clinic, Southdale Cancer Clinic, Maple Grove Clinic, Radiation Oncology Clinic (Maple Grove), Lung Cancer Screening Clinic and Cancer Risk Management Clinic.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Answers, coordinates and facilitates all calls for new patient scheduling for the Oncology Service Line.
Secures information pertinent to the patient visit.
Obtains internal and external records including but not limited to medical records, scans/imaging and pathology slides.
Answers calls to the patient referral center in a timely manner.
Coordinates patients’ information and/or patient care
Maintains oncology intake database with up-to-date information regarding current scheduling guidelines.
Communicates effectively with other members of the health care team at all levels to ensure effective service.
Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level of population served.
Post high school education in medical related area.
Medical terminology specific to area.
2-3 years of strong customer service experience.
Prior experience in complex patient scheduling and registration in a clinic setting.
Basic research skills regarding clinical trials.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Conflict management and problem solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
2-year college degree in medical related area or Bachelor’s degree in Science or Healthcare related area.
2 years of medical intake specialist experience.
Core knowledge of all 11 disease categories developed by physicians within the oncology service line and the ability to follow the algorithms.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Location: At this time, this position will be remote (MN residents only.)
Hours: 40 hours per week.
