Essentia Health Point of Care Testing Coordinator (80 hours per pay period) in Duluth, Minnesota

Job Description:

Performs a wide variety of responsibilities to assure that all Essentia Health locations perform point of care testing in a manner consistent with Essentia Health policies and all applicable regulations. Responsibilities include coordinating acquisition, installation, and maintenance of instrumentation; developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures; training and documentation of competencies for all involved employees; performing a variety of administrative and planning duties associated with position; serving as system-wide expert for point of care testing and as technical consultant/resources; maintaining up-to-date job knowledge; and participating in various community activities such as Health Fairs. Position requires a high level of interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships and enhance SMDC image throughout the community.

Work Experience: 3 years’ experience as a medical technologist and supervisory experience preferred. Requires thorough knowledge of clinical laboratory standards, procedures and practices as well as considerable knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing and ability to troubleshoot any problems that might arise in these areas.

Education Qualifications:

Graduate of a four-year degree program from an accredited school of Clinical Laboratory Science, or equivalent discipline.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Current ASCP, NCA, or equivalent certification or ability to obtain certification within one year from date of hire.
