Laboratory Medicine & Pathology
The laboratory assistant is responsible for biological (e.g. blood, urine) specimen receipt, identification verification, processing and storage. The laboratory assistant is also responsible for performing a variety of clerical, processing, and other laboratory duties that include maintaining supply inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning. The laboratory assistant works with various computer information systems on a daily basis.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience working in a medical field, preferred. Phlebotomy experience, preferred.
Willingness to travel to other MCHS locations for assignments as needed. Moderate to advanced computer skills needed. Possess good written and oral communication skills, the ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects. Excellent customer service skills.
License or certification
For Lab Assistant II- Applicant must possess a phlebotomy certification from an approved laboratory certification agency, a Medical Assistant certification, a MLT certification or an MT certification, however ongoing maintenance is not required.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $15.74 per hour for Lab Assistant I and $16.59 per hour for Lab Assistant II
Hours / Pay period
This position works 8 hour shifts on the overnight shift 10:30 pm - 7:00 am. The candidate will work 8, 8 hour shifts in a 2 week pay period.
every other weekend/ every other holiday
