Position Summary Lead the Microbiology team supporting new product development, production, controlled environments, and sterilization. Supervise the microbiology lab; coordinate and optimize test input, execution, output, and communication. Staff, develop, and direct team to effectively support test execution (bioburden, LAL), sterilization (validation work), and environmental monitoring. Partner with Quality, Regulatory, and Operations on organizational/procedural/strategic decisions. Identify, prioritize, and oversee optimization of deliverables and processes. Provide input into corporate strategic initiatives and execute at a site level. Principal Responsibilities Staff, develop, and supervise the Microbiology team. Provide guidance to teams through technical, system, and execution challenges. Partner with Design Assurance to coordinate support for sterilization validation testing. Partner with Operations to scope, staff, support, and prioritize environmental monitoring and product release. Partner with Quality Assurance to execute and manage non-conforming events related to microbiology. Support internal and external audits including preparation and direct interaction with auditors Education / Experience Requirements BS degree in life sciences Minimum 5 years experience with medical device microbiology laboratory and/or sterilization Minimum 3 years experience managing a team and/or lab Project Management skills and experiencer Specialized Skills / Other Requirements Ability to supervise and set work direction for a team of microbiologists. Manage lab requests, execution, and output clearly communicate status. Ability to define, organize, and supervise individual and team tasks. Effective verbal and written communication. Proficient in technical report writing and review. Interpersonal skills; working in a team and as an individual contributor. Structured and methodical problem-solving approach. Foster a positive culture of growth, collaboration, and achievement across the organization. Thorough understanding of microbiology, contamination control, cleaning/disinfection validation of manufacturing areas, post sterile release, and controlled environments monitoring/maintenance.
