Senior R.and.D Engineer - Maple Grove, MN About the role: We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior R.and.D Engineer supporting Structural Heart projects within the Interventional Cardiology division. Structural Heart is an exciting growth driver for BSC. This role will utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver life-changing medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSC's mission. This role supports a major product line with high visibility which will provide the right candidate with excellent growth potential. The R.and.D role will lead a team to develop new devices .and. technology for our left atrial appendage occlusion franchise. The role will include researching available literature, leveraging physician expertise and previous company experience to formulate a portfolio investment strategy. These investments in new technology will drive a robust pipeline for left atrial occlusion that will keep BSC in a market leadership position. Your responsibilities include: Create a strong team culture around high expectations .and. high performance Facilitate crisp decision making around key technical issues Lead technology integration .and. knowledge transfer within domain of responsibility Provide clear communication to stakeholders at key technical updates Leverage internal/external partners as necessary to achieve project objectives Lead the design .and. execution of structured experimental plans to drive data based decisions Understand anatomy, clinical use cases and user interface requirements to drive design decisions. Develop novel improvements to products or processes resulting in expansion of BSC's Intellectual Property portfolio in key strategic areas. Successfully completes engineering work in one or more of the following: technology development, product design and development, test method development, specification development, bench .and. preclinical studies. Assess the feasibility and soundness of alternative engineering processes, products, or equipment. Interface with Physicians/Cath Lab personnel to obtain feedback on concepts and performance of new devices. Translates customer needs into product requirements and design specifications. Works cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing on complex projects to ensure project success. May train and/or provide work direction to technicians and entry-level engineers. What we're looking for: Minimum Qualifications BS in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science Required minimum years of work experience (primarily in medical device or related field): 5+ Years with BS, 3+ Years with MS Expertise in design simulation tools and analysis techniques Solid clinical knowledge and experience in cardiovascular anatomy. Ability to provide technical leadership as it relates to product and process design Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources. Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
