3M is seeking a Manufacturing Technology Engineer for Oral Care Solutions Division in Maplewood, MN. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.

Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Technology Engineer will be responsible for leading process development projects in support of new product introductions for the Oral Care business.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Initiates and leads the process development activities for new products and processes.

  • Member of cross-functional NPI teams.

  • Works closely with Division Engineering to insure Design for Manufacturability in early stages.

  • Plans and executes the technology transfer of new products and processes to manufacturing plant. Delivers projects safely, on-time, and within budget.

  • Identifies, proves feasible and implements disruptive manufacturing technologies to improve product cost, service and quality. Performs and documents manufacturing process experiments.

  • Completes formal process validation studies and documents work according to established procedures for medical device manufacturing.

  • Develops, presents and communicates capital proposals for new processing technology and cost reduction opportunities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience of process development, process research, manufacturing technology, and/or manufacturing engineering in a private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Materials Science and/or Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Minimum three (3) years of manufacturing plant or pilot plant experience

  • High level experience with running and troubleshooting production additive manufacturing (3D printing) processes

  • Highly proficient with automated assembly processes and equipment

  • Experience with good manufacturing practices (GMP) manufacturing and process validation

  • Experience with thermoformed film processes

  • Experience with custom manufacturing driven by digital technologies and/or software

  • Experience with Scrum methodology

  • Intermediate level CAD skills

  • Experience with packaging systems (e.g. bagging, box erecter, sequence, and sort)

  • High level of mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to understand and apply analytical and statistics tools

  • Results-oriented with strong process and execution skills

  • Self-starter who leads with high energy

Location: Maplewood, MN

Travel: May include up to 20% domestic/international

Relocation: May be authorized
