Aerotek Analytical Lab Technician in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Summary: Facilitates the execution of analytical studies by completing sample preparation and extraction related to analytical chemistry studies and assists with operating chromatographic systems such as LC, LC/MS/MS and GCMS equipment for standard elements as directed following company SOPs, assays and study protocols.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Maintains knowledge of applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in order to successfully perform job duties, and GLP and ISO as they apply to the research environment, individual protocols and good documentation practices.
Performs the extraction process on prepared samples as directed by study protocol for analytical data generation.
Receives and logs samples for testing. Completes chain of custody documentation for tracking. Communicates with clients as needed to confirm documentation on receipt paperwork is accurate and complete.
Performs a variety of laboratory techniques including sample weighing and recording, preparation of standard solutions, buffers, sample preparation requiring homogenization, liquid-liquid extraction, filtration, centrifugation and pipetting, etc.
Prepares and maintains sterile glassware for the sample preparation process. Processes glassware through the washer.
Operates a variety of chromatographic and spectroscopic systems such as LC, LC/MS/MS, and GCMS to analyze standard or relatively basic biological and chemical elements as directed by assays or study protocols.
Operates, cleans and maintains incubators, autoclaves, hoods and other equipment routinely utilized.
Receives disposable materials used throughout the laboratory. Maintains a log of Certificates of Analysis as necessary for chemical receipt.
Communicates well with auditors, clients and other staff members.
Other Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Maintains an efficient and clean work area by organizing and re-stocking sample preparation as needed.
Assists with other duties as assigned.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related scientific field is required.
One year of experience working in an analytical laboratory required.
Familiarity with various chromatographic and spectroscopic equipment and instrumentation is preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
