Hennepin County Medical Center Laboratory Team Lead in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital. SUMMARY Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Laboratory Team Lead in our Core Lab. This part-time (0.5 FTE) will work evenings and nights. Under general supervision, performs clinical laboratory testing of moderate to highly complex difficulty while evaluating, correlating and interpreting clinical laboratory test results. The Team Lead is responsible for assisting the daily operations including, but not limited to, staffing assignments and technical duties as assigned. RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborates with other sections/departments to create systems and problem solving for ongoing issues that impact patient care Must be competent in work areas as defined by their section, and perform these duties the majority of the time Performs and monitors quality control processes, establishes and monitors quality assurance and recordkeeping systems Participates in quality improvement programs, including workflow efficiencies, according to standard operating procedures to ensure accuracy and validity of test results Performs calibration, maintenance, performance checks on instrumentation according to standard operating procedures, troubleshooting, and participates in the preparation and evaluation of maintenance schedules Takes a leadership role by assisting in the training/teaching of new staff members and/or student interns, participates in the completion of performance evaluations of staff, monitors daily supplies and equipment, participates in the selection of instrumentation/products, and administers proficiency testing programs and quality control programs for assigned discipline Assists in daily compliance for the accrediting and regulatory agencies and identifies areas for corrective action when deficiencies are noted Creates middleware rules and writes operating procedures Assist with goal setting, problem solving, resource management, change management and outcome achievement for their work areas Assists, with supervisor guidance, in staff scheduling, including identifying staffing needs and solutions Assists in procedure review and updating as directed TEAM LEAD - (in addition to the duties above) Molecular Diagnostics: Oversees the development and implementation of new methodologies, products, instrumentation and laboratory developed tests (LDTs), including determination of sensitivity, specificity, limit of detection, and cross reactivity Acts as a technical consultant for molecular diagnostics Toxicology: Performs testing utilizing Gas Chromatography (GC), Liquid Chromatography (LC), and Mass Spectrometry (MS) Discusses the theory of and performs Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) testing Performs testing, utilizing Chain of Custody documentation and procedures Specimen Processing: Oversees the reference lab area with regard to test management including billing and pending log Oversees the outreach specimen intake using multiple data / software; including registration, ordering billing and specimen management Oversees specimen flow within the specimen process area Cytogenetics: Oversees the development/implementation of new methodologies, tests, and equipment, along with any special projects determined by the section medical directors Acts as a technical con
