SUMMARY: Responsible for providing or overseeing the design, analysis, administration and oversight of scientific studies, programs and practices; provides feedback and guidance to employees and management, using expert professional and technical knowledge of scientific studies, research, or related equipment, testing, and procedures. Preferred candidate will work out of one of our labs in Minneapolis, MN, Baton Rouge, LA, Ormond Beach, FL or West Columbia, SC. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Serves as a lead to staff to include providing work direction, guidance, and training. 2. Designs experimental procedures to define objectives and execution of studies based on industry guidelines. 3. Leads research and development projects, tracks progress to ensure on-time completion, within budget, and high-quality results. 4. Provides expert analysis, interpretation, and counsel to staff, management, and functional leaders regarding area policies, programs and practices; involves comprehensive operations and leading implementation and change. 5. Provides comprehensive research, feedback, and decisions to resolve management and employee questions and requirements; assists with receiving customer feedback and coordinating resources and responses as required. 6. Performs as the technical subject matter expert (SME) for the area/product line represented and works with leader(s) to assess and anticipate current and future area/product line requirements. 7. Develops and delivers technical information (webinars, datasheets, etc.) and develops/supports the development of proposals to market business services to prospective clients. 8. Analyzes and reviews instruments and method parameters, raw data, calculated data, feedback and related information on an ongoing to as-needed basis to determine trends, draw conclusions, interpret findings, and presents results, proposals and recommendations to management and clients. 9. Ensures the accuracy of comprehensive tests, equipment, actions, procedures and operational databases, reports, and related details through audits, queries, and operational reviews; works with teams to resolve discrepancies. 10. Assists with developing or participating in area or cross-functional project or program objectives, which includes proposed budgets, timelines, materials, personnel, and other project requirements, receives direction and presents information to management. 11. Interprets and applies department policies and procedures and assists with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; receives guidance within these areas as needed. 12. Leads the assessment of new technologies or test method implementation within the division. 13. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. 14. Promotes and supports the overall mission of Pace Analytical by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with customers and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry or a closely related field; AND at least fifteen (15) years of experience, including at least four (4) years of experience with highly specialized or technical programs or operations; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
