Position description Performs venous, skin and arterial punctures, line collections, IV placement and care and Point of Care (POC) testing to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Performs all processes and procedures according to protocol. Responsible for accurate patient identification, specimen integrity and sample labeling. Interacts with customers in a pleasant, efficient and cooperative manner. Performs work in a fast pace environment, which may include the Intensive care unit and/or emergency department. Works cooperatively with peers, gives and receives constructive feedback. Responsible for training, educating and mentoring new and existing staff, troubleshooting and resolving problems. Must be able to make sounds decisions, prioritize work, accommodate scheduling adjustments, off-shifts, holidays and weekend work assignments. Must maintain a professional image at all times. Participates on special projects as assigned by the management team and serves as a resource to others. May be required to attend the Mayo Clinic phlebotomy training program.

*A two year commitment to this position is required* Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and 18 months related experience required (e.g. phlebotomy and/or arterial puncture).

Additional qualifications Phlebotomy training experience is required. Completion of a phlebotomy program/coursework and job instruction training is preferred. Ability to solve operational issues with minimal assistance.

Basic Life Support (BLS) training may be required in outpatient settings.

Compensation Detail Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $19.26 per hour.

Schedule details Day shift hours 06:00AM to 14:30PM, Tuesday through Saturday

Weekend schedule Rare (may be asked to work an occasional weekend to assist with LIS outages or specialized training)
