Quality Control Technician – Rochester, MN

Kelly Scientific Resources is currently seeking candidates for Quality Control Technician for one of our top clients in Rochester, MN.

Shift: 4 on/3 off ; 3 on/4 off

Schedule: 6pm – 6:30am (Overnight)

Quality Control Technician will support the daily needs of production department, majority duties will include washing and sterilizing lab-ware, equipment and anything used during production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:

A. Essential Functions:

  • Follows and enforces procedures and practices of the SQF 2000 System.

  • Performs cultures application functional testing.

  • Performs, interprets and evaluates QC test results and makes recommendations. Gives input and assists in the development of QC procedures, policies, and philosophy.

  • Ensures that products and QC practices are in compliance with company policies and local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Provides direction to “in process” production activities and planning of production processes

  • Administers pre–operational sanitation verification ATP bioluminescence program.

  • Maintains and continually develops environmental monitoring program. Performs environmental monitoring, analyzes results and gives sanitation direction.

  • Assists in the verification and maintenance of site Allergen Control Program.

  • Promotes and works in a team environment. Is an active participant in all QC activities.

  • Enforces and supports GMP policies. Participates as an internal GMP inspector – presents findings.

  • Maintains skills and knowledge base in QC methods for both microbiology and analytical chemistry.

B. Marginal Functions:

  • Acts as back-up for analytical lab, micro lab, and Inoculation lab.

  • Participates on inter-departmental project teams.

  • Assists in maintaining the laboratory record file system.


  • Bachelor degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry or Biology

  • 0-1 years of experience in food microbiology or food lab setting; 2-5 yr experience preferred

  • Knowledge in QC laboratory methodologies, quality systems, and food safety.

  • Knowledge of current GMP. HACCP Training. Allergen awareness.

  • Must be computer literate.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, including both verbal and written communication and the ability to lead and work in interdepartmental teams.

  • The work is self-directed and requires the ability to work without close, direct supervision utilizing good organizational techniques.
