Why Mayo Clinic Position description The Division of Hematopathology in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, is seeking a candidate for a Senior Associate Consultant Faculty position to advance digital pathology aligning with institutional and departmental priorities on artificial intelligence (AI) and digital strategy in healthcare. Successful candidates will advance data science and informatics in clinical and translational research, education and practice transformation through methodology advancement and/or multidisciplinary team collaboration in practice, education, and research.
Qualified individuals should possess a M.D. in a scientific or medical field with at least 3 years of experience in developing advanced computational algorithms in digital pathology and AI. Candidate should also possess a background in machine learning and programming, along with a demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a digital pathology project, including coordination, data acquisition and analysis, software development, and documentation. Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage and partner with teams of scientists and other healthcare professionals are essential. A board certification in Pathology or Hematopathology is desirable, but not required.
The Division of Hematopathology includes 28 hematopathologists whose diverse clinical practice encompasses all aspects of benign and malignant hematopathology from both the internal Mayo Clinic practice and the Mayo Clinic Laboratories (MCL) reference laboratory. Our faculty is committed to excellence in clinical practice, education, and translational research. The broad practice spectrum and depth of the diagnostic expertise create unparalleled high quality and annotated data banks (e.g., flow cytometry, oncologic and hereditary genomics, digital slide imaging, hematology laboratory testing results, and clinical data) and opportunities for professional growth and career development in digital pathology and AI.
