DeZurik Inc. Engineering Lab Technician in Sartell, Minnesota

GENERAL SUMMARY The main objective of this position is to provide test services to various departments within DeZURIK Inc., and to provide excellent customer service. Lab support includes but is not limited to procurement, set-up, operation, data collection, evaluation and written reports for a variety of tests and products. The lab technician supports the management and operation of the test laboratory to support DeZURIK priorities and strategy. In addition to R .and. D lab work, support of field service and DeZURIK s QA department is also a priority. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) Provide support for concepts, design, develop, and creation of test fixtures and test apparatus, and support evaluating test equipment and software offered by suppliers. Operate rubber material test equipment to obtain uncured and cured physical properties and operate a heated hydraulic press to cure rubber in molds. Ability to correctly measure chemicals per rubber formulation directions, organize and plan test matrix s for multiple projects at once, attention to detail in observing test results and appropriate handling and disposal of chemicals. Basic testing with a focus on obtaining skills to compound and mill small batch rubber for prototype formulations. Setup, monitor, collect data and write test reports. Test, evaluate and analyze (A) Product development prototypes, (B) First article samples of products, including components and assembles products, (C) Vendor supplied products, particularly candidate for DeZURIK private labeling, and (D) Competitive products. Provide support trouble shooting customer and factory issues to determine root cause of problems, Identify new lab capital equipment and provide cost effective solutions. Provide support to gather and analyze test data and develop solutions and recommendations. Provide support to maintain, and calibrate equipment and parts needed for testing. Provide support to develop and maintain standard laboratory test procedures, and maintain/sustain and improve the Labs 5S program. Provide support on customer-witnessed inspections. Must have good interpersonal skills to relate with customer inspectors and representatives. This position handles intellectual capital-must properly maintain confidential and proprietary technical information. Support of new product development is a high priority. Field service work as required-including evaluation of return goods. Provide support setting up print jobs and maintaining the Stratasys 3D prototype printers. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma required A minimum of 12 months product testing experience Must have good mechanical aptitude, knowledge of instrumentation, testing procedures, and good problem solving skills Must also be able to design test apparatus, have electrical control knowledge and computer data acquisition knowledge. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work with high temperature (1200 F. oven temp.). Work with high pressure (10,000 PSI). Often the test model and equipment are heavy and require high strength to install and operate. Due to these demands, high awareness of safety is required. WORKING CONDITIONS Normal working conditions. Noise of a mechanical product test laboratory. Wear appropriate PPE when working with chemicals.
