Job Summary
This position will collect, analyze, validate and interpret data, and prepare products for dissemination (on the web and in paper form). The position will focus on nonfatal drug overdose morbidity data from the hospital discharge data, and the quarterly drug overdose analysis and data submissions to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The incumbent will principally utilize statistical analysis systems (SAS), Excel programming, and Tableau software; there will be opportunity to learn data linkage as we extend our work to understand the health care burden related to drug use and misuse. This will enable the Injury and Violence Prevention Section (IVPS) to accomplish the work specified in several cooperative agreements with the CDC. This position will assist with analyzing injury morbidity files, survey data sources, and will assist with other special studies and analyses as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
An Associate Degree in public health, data management, or related field
OR
Two years of technical or administrative experience as described above
Preferred Qualifications
A master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or other related health field
Awareness of state law and statutes regarding data privacy, reporting requirements, and data security
Knowledge of and experience with programming, analysis, and report generation using SAS, R, Microsoft Excel, and Tableau
Ability and experience presenting results and findings clearly, effectively, and professionally through a variety of mediums (including orally, graphically, and written) and audiences (e.g., epidemiologists, researchers, local public health, prevention partners)
Experience analyzing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative public health surveillance or research data
Additional Requirements
Must successfully pass a background check
