University of Minnesota Physicians Faculty Physician - St. Joseph’s Family Medicine in St. Paul, Minnesota

As the multi-specialty group practice for the faculty of the University of Minnesota Medical School, University of Minnesota Physicians has more than 950 physicians and 1,600 health professionals, providing clinical care in over 100 specialty and sub-specialty areas. Faculty Physician – Family Medicine

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota is seeking a full-time board certified/eligible family physician at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank on an academic or master clinician track.

About the Appointment

  • This position will include clinical duties working 70% atM Health Fairview Clinic - Bethesda and 30% M Health Fairview St. Joseph's Hospital (http://https://www.fairview.org/locations/healtheast-st-josephs-hospital) , both in St. Paul, MN.

  • Candidate to provide outpatient and inpatient care at the clinic and hospital in full-scope family medicine, including obstetrics.

  • Practice includes 7 physicians, 24 residents, 2 pharmacists, and 1 psychologist.

  • FTE is negotiable (.7-1.0)

  • Patient population is diverse, undeserved, and high need.

  • Typical call is 1 evening per week and 1 weekend every 6-7 days.

  • Candidate to provide clinical instruction to and oversight of medical residents and medical students in the ambulatory clinic, hospital, and other training sites. Providing didactic instruction (seminars, lectures, workshops, grand rounds).

  • Administrative duties include: participating in faculty meetings, serving on committees, participating in accreditation and other reviews, and representing the program at professional and organization meetings as appropriate. Opportunities for faculty development and participation in scholarly activities.

About the Department

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota was created more than 45 years ago in response to a legislative mandate to train primary care physicians. Since then, we have been leaders in transforming the specialty through education, research, and patient care. We are the academic sponsor of eight family medicine residencies—five in the Twin Cities, three in Greater Minnesota. We are involved in medical student education activities across the Medical School's two campuses: Twin Cities and Duluth. We sponsor four fellowship programs—sports medicine, hospice and palliative medicine, behavioral medicine, and human sexuality— and offer continuing medical education opportunities. We are regularly among the top National Institutes of Health-funded family medicine departments. Our faculty are actively researching health disparities, healthcare delivery, and population health.   • Graduate of an accredited ACGME family medicine residency and/or fellowship training program.

  • Board eligible/certified

  • Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.

  • Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of Minnesota

  • Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges

  • Ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of VISA category while in the United States.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Exceptional collaboration abilities with partners and staff.

  • Understands and places importance on patient care/service.

  • Detail oriented and self-motivated

  • Education focused and a creative problem-solver

Preferred: Three or more years of practice experience beyond residency completion. One or more years of medical teaching experience. Experience in educational program and curriculum development and evaluation. Experience in scholarly activities and in mentoring trainees in scholarly activities.
