Operating 10 donor centers and conducting hundreds of blood drives each month, we are proud to be an independent nonprofit that supplies over 30 area hospitals and more than a dozen air ambulances with life-saving blood—from our community, for our community.
To ensure that donor screening, automated blood collection procedures (including Double Red Cell, Plasma, and Platelets) and Whole Blood Collections are done in a manner that is consistent with current clinical practices, compliant with all regulatory requirements and result in safe products that maintain SQuIPP* for patients and donors, and provide exceptional experiences for donors. Maintains a professional appearance and attitude. Works together with the Operations Supervisor, Op Lead and team to ensure teamwork and smooth operations. *Safety, Quality, Identity, Purity, Potency, (SQUIPP)
Donor screening. Determines vital signs and eligibility.
- Assesses and concurrently documents vitals of donor; qualifies donor responses to Health History Questionnaire to determine eligibility of donor.
Perform Whole Blood and Automated blood collections (Double Red Cells, Plasma and Platelets).
(May include special collections and research collections.)
Performs blood collections in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
Follows safety procedures.
Analyze donor data and determine optimal product collections on appropriate instruments
Other Duties as assigned:
Assist with the set-up of blood drive, including the safe set-up of operation.
Performs cleaning tasks, including equipment cleaning.
Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
Perform Greeter functions
Perform automation collections QC tasks
Platelet Memo Entry
Provide Customer Service including pre/post donation care and other care as needed.
HS Diploma or equivalent and specialized training beyond HS (phlebotomy, medical assistant, EMT) or other post- secondary programPrefer medicla or health care academic program or coursework
One and one half (1.5) years of total experience in health care or customer service, with one year blood collection experience or related health care experience that included phlebotomy.Minimum of 6 months experience in a blood center, plasma center, or other highly regulated environment
Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant Certificate or EMT preferred
Valid Driver’s license
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Teamwork and working with others.
Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Schedule: Mon - Sat, shift times and length vary. Location primarily for Coon Rapids Donor Center.
