POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
This position performs functions in regards to: front desk reception and clerical support, communications with Patients, family and providers, facilitation of patient care & flow between different Regions departments and/or outside providers, processing of laboratory tests and assessment of results, documenting patient care and ensuring that the results are properly filed, operating multiple hospital computer systems, performing basic order entry, assisting physicians, nurses, radiology technologists in the Radiology Department during the overnight shift and also performs various related support duties as assigned.
Completion of standard one year medical laboratory assistant training program, phlebotomy program or equivalent training (e.g. CMA, EMT, Paramedic, etc.). Associates degree or higher with a minimum of two years applicable direct patient, health care experience may substitute. Upon hire must complete Regions Hospital IV start and back safety training.
Successful completion of a radiology internship program, the Regions IV start course, and back safety training may substitute for some of the above requirements.
Experience: Relevant experience preferred

Knowledge of the filing system used within the laboratory/radiology
Ability to collect blood samples through capillary or venipuncture techniques and accurately process specimens for lab testing
Ability to effectively place IV access
Ability to follow laboratory/radiology procedures and maintain time, date and identity information on all specimens and reports
Ability to navigate hospital computer systems and related hardware/software.
