Job Description:

Performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modification of mechanical materials, devices, assemblies, subassemblies, systems. and products. Performs change management functions involving the creation and update of Design History File (DHF), Device Master Records (DMR), and other sources of Quality System document utilizing SolidWorks, Microsoft Office, and Windchill applications. Performs simple Project Management activities as requested to ensure departmental goals are achieved.


Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.

  • Performs a variety of duties in the mechanical areas.

  • Builds or assembles prototype materials, components, subassemblies and assemblies.;

  • Constructs, operates, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, maintains and tests equipment, systems or products.

  • Works from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions.

  • Performs tests, analyzes data and writes protocols and reports

  • Reviews or develops prints, drawings, inspection procedures, processing or manufacturing instructions.

  • Maintains detailed documentation through all phases of development, testing and analysis.

  • May assist in the transfer of technology and/or contribute in cross-functional discussions regarding device performance allegations.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or other related engineering field

  • 1-3 years of related work experience, primarily in R&D engineering

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization

  • Ability to work within cross-functional teams as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment

  • Knowledge and understanding of a variety of engineering disciplines, theories and concepts, to support development of innovative approaches to problem solving

  • Experience with Good Documentation Practices, test method procedures and validations

  • Experience with modeling tools like SolidWorks preferred

  • Experience with a variety of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability preferred

  • Experience designing and testing medical devices with a strong background in Quality preferred

  • Ability to develop, plan , execute, analyze and document experiments

  • Able to write documentation that meets Quality System requirements

  • Follow defined procedures and practices.

  • Operate under design control procedures

  • Able to apply basic statistics to data analysis

  • Strong attention to detail, meet deadlines
