WuXi AppTec Supervisor Chemistry, Chromatography in St. Paul, Minnesota
This position is responsible for organizing, planning and managing the personnel, systems and resources critical to the daily operation of the designated lab area. The Supervisor is also expected to contribute to the workload of the department on an as needed basis.
Recommends the hiring, transfer, promotion, discharge and salary changes for their assigned staff.
Interview and onboard new staff.
Ensure each employee receives appropriate training for duties, and ongoing training of experienced staff.
Conducts performance reviews, responds to issues, and assists with creating goals for assigned staff.
Coaches and mentors to develop assigned staff.
Supervise daily activities of assigned staff, clearly communicate/schedule work assignments and testing, help with troubleshooting, and ensure that procedures are completed as directed.
Contribute to the lab work as needed to complete activities.
Perform job specific tasks in compliance with WuXi AppTec Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements.
Maintain laboratory equipment and facilities according to GMP/GLP regulations and WuXi AppTec Standard Operating Procedures. This includes working with vendors and internal staff to maintain equipment and assisting with environmental monitoring alarms.
Assist with performing and writing laboratory investigations for assigned staff.
Complete Standard Operating Procedure revisions and periodic reviews.
Support client, regulatory, and accreditation audits and inspections, as well as technical interactions with clients, as needed.
Contributes to the overall chemistry department operations and to the achievement of departmental goals.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulatory documents (i.e. ISO, CFR part 58, etc.)
May be required to support staff and environmental monitoring services outside of normal office hours/days.
May be required to assist in other departments.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience / Education
Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience, preferably GLP/GMP
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
Supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Ability to use judgement, clear problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Demonstration of strong customer service and project management skills.
Ability to work under limited supervision.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of general chemistry laboratory procedures and GLP/GMP regulations.
Ability to perform simple to moderate mathematical calculations
Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills
Need to be able to clearly speak, read, write and understand English
Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Must be able to work in a Lab setting with exposure to biohazards/hazardous chemicals
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
Must be able to work in environment with minimal noise levels
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Clarity of vision
Ability to identify and distinguish colors
Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions
Ability to lift 25 lbs occasionally
Ability to crouch, bend, twist and reach
